“Trapped Between Worlds: The Journey to Reconnect with the Higher Self After Psychedelics and Antipsychotics Block the Path to Spiritual Awakening and Out-of-Body Experiences”
Abstract:
This presentation delves into a deeply personal and cautionary tale of spiritual disconnection and the consequences of mixing antipsychotics and psychedelics. After taking paliperidone, an antipsychotic medication, while also experimenting with psychedelics, I experienced a single, vivid psychedelic journey—but it was my last. Following that experience, I could no longer access the altered states of consciousness that once allowed me to connect with my higher self, hallucinate, or embark on out-of-body journeys as a shaman and spiritual seeker.
Despite numerous attempts to rekindle these experiences—including smoking DMT, taking mushrooms, and using LSD—nothing worked. My spiritual path became a barren landscape, void of the visions, insights, and transcendence that once defined my journey. I found myself grappling with profound questions: Have I permanently severed my connection to the higher self? Have my actions caused irreversible damage to my mind and spiritual body?
This story serves as a warning about the dangerous intersection of antipsychotics and psychedelics, highlighting the risks of tampering with powerful substances without understanding their profound effects on the brain and spirit. Through reflection and research, I explore the possible physiological and spiritual reasons behind this disconnection, as well as potential pathways for recovery.
Key questions include whether it’s possible to heal the damage done to one’s spiritual receptors and reconnect with the higher self. What practices—be it meditation, plant medicine integration, or deep healing work—might offer hope for restoring balance?
By sharing my experience, I aim to foster awareness, inspire thoughtful discussions about the dangers of psychedelic use in vulnerable states, and explore the profound human desire to reconnect with the divine. This presentation is not just a story of loss but also a quest for healing, understanding, and transformation.
